We celebrated 20 years of ownership with a major remodel in the spring of 2017. Along with new HVAC, the ceiling was raised, walls were moved, and new paint, shelving, and floors also gave the store a new look.
In 1997, Corey Henry and his brother Brent became the owners of Henry Retail Liquor. Lori joined the partnership in 2001 when she and Corey got married. In 2010, Corey and Lori become the sole owners.
Community involvement and support of Hiawatha are very important to the Henry family. Over the years they have donated to many groups and organizations in Hiawatha and the surrounding areas. For several years, they have sponsored a Hiawatha youth softball team and recently a youth basketball team. Many monetary donations have been given to the Hiawatha HS Alumni, Hiawatha Community Hospital Foundation, USD 415 Education Foundation, HHS Booster Club, Knights of Columbus, Quails Unlimited, and other organizations to help support local youth, scholarships, community projects, and additional school funding.
